8,000 Pounds of Food to Baja
Much needed "Manna Pack" food arrived in Baja this week due to the collaborative efforts of STM, Serve the People, Club Dust, GAIN, and FMSC. The food, paid for by donors and packaged by volunteers in Minnesota, traveled by rail across country to Santa Ana where it was then driven by semi-truck across the Tijuana border by DIF(Mexico's Department of Chidren's Services). From there it was trucked to a distribution point in La Mision from where it will be taken to over 4,000 children living in orphanges and poverty stricken communities throughout Northern Baja. Just one example how thousands of lives can be touched when we band together to be HIS hands and feet!

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Galations 5:13
Needless to say, the recession of the past two years has been a challenge. Many of us struggled with our jobs and resources, and were not able to financially help others as much as we would have liked. We learned however, that in the absence of worldly wealth, the Lord used our muscle and talents to serve others. In God's economy, nothing is as precious as our loving obedience to go where he sends us. As the economy recovers, we are tempted to once again busy ourselves chasing after "worldly" goods. Please don't forget the joy and blessings that we have experienced taking time to stand together serving others less fortunate.
With this in mind - we have two upcoming serving trips where we can show our love to our "neighbors" to the south. We also have volunteer/serving opportunities for The Daniel Plan Fun Walk & Run Event at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest. We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to serve with you!

THIS SATURDAY May 14th-15th
RSM Weekend Baja Serving Trip
 Join us as we leave Orange County at or before sunrise on Saturday headed to Guadalupe Valley, Baja Mexico for an overnight stay at Rancho Sordo Mudo. We plan to spend Saturday flexing our muscles as we mix and pour foundation and footings for the missionary training center, while still finding time to play some basketball/soccer with the kids, fellowship with the staff, and enjoy a campfire. On Sunday, we will attend Sunday morning church service at RSM, before returning home later that afternoon. For those not wishing to do the building thing, there are meals to prepare and other
things to keep busy! The $50.00 cost covers van transportation, lodging, and food. This is a perfect college/high school/or entire family group trip opportunity. This will be your last chance to visit with the kids and staff before summer break! Call Jim at 949 212-8071 to reserve your spots. |
