This month turns another page in STM history when we gather together to celebrate the completion of our second large scale building project. Over the last two years, we have seen hundreds of volunteers discover the true joy in life that comes from serving others. Many would say, "its just a building". But whether its building an infant nursery in La Mision, distributing food, clothing and medical care to needy families in Santa Ana, or making a film for a deaf childrens's school in Guadalupe Valley, the value is not measured in the completed project, but what that completed project represents. Each project represents transformed lives. And the transformation occurs not only in the lives of the children and families we serve, but in each and every individual that steps up with a willing heart and says, "GOD USE ME".
Its through serving others, we show our love for God. Thank you to those that have made this Nursery
dream a reality. And thanks to and all the glory to Him, for giving us the opportunity to serve.
In His Love,
James Kirk-Johnson

Local People Making A Difference By Serving Those in Haiti KIDS HELPING KIDS.....

So how can a teenager living over 3000 miles away from Haiti make a difference? That was the question answered a couple weekends ago when over 20 teenagers pitched in with 50 or so adults to sort over 42 pallets of much needed medical supplies and water bound for Haiti. The opportunity came about through the Santa Ana Project acquiring donated medical supplies and partnering ministries like GAIN finding a way to get them to where they are needed most. Volunteers from Concordia University, Saddleback Church, and Victory Outreach then spent hours (a lot of them in the rain) sorting and itemizing the supplies, then getting them ready for their long journey. Then at the last moment the owner of a local trucking company phoned and offered to transport everything to a staging warehouse operated by Giving Children Hope, where the supplies would then be flown to the east coast,
before being transported to their final destinations in Haiti.
During the packing, one volunteer with EMT training commented, "If I were a first responder in Haiti tasked with making a list of things I would need, everything I am touching today would be on that list".
Stay tuned for more serving opportunities for your children, youth, college, or small groups. |
